Biology student wins Genomics Education Poster Scholarship Program competition
Relebohile (Rele) Sekonyela, an international student and biology major, has received first place recognition in a national undergraduate research competition, the Genomics Education Poster Scholarship Program, sponsored by Li-Cor Biosciences.
Sekonyela's research focused on assessing relationships among species of the poorly known microhylid frog genus Callulops from Papua New Guinea. Sekonyela will continue her work this summer with the assistance of funding from an NSF supplement. The award will allow Sekonyela to travel with Dr. de Sá to national meetings in Montreal, Canada this July to present her research.
