Richmond debate director nominated to sit on National Topic Committee

Kevin Kuswa, director of debate at the University of Richmond, has been nominated to serve on the National Topic Committee for a two-year term.

The National Topic Committee is responsible for writing intercollegiate debate resolution for the upcoming season, resolution that will guide collegiate policy debate across the United States. The committee is comprised of 12 to 15 individuals nominated by one of three national debate organizations. Kuswa was elected and nominated by the American Debate Association.

In June of each year, the committee meets to evaluate wording papers written by the debate community and decides on a slate of five possible resolutions. The debate season officially kicks off in August with the topic release and concludes in early April when the National Tournament is held.

This year, the National Topic Committee will convene at Wake Forest University.
