For long-time lovers of the arts as well as newcomers, the new season at Richmond’s Modlin Center will definitely be one to remember. Director Deborah Sommers is excited about the line-up and states that with a wide variety of possibilities, there will be something for everyone.
For over twenty years I passed by the University of Richmond campus and except for attending my daughter’s wedding at the Cannon Memorial Chapel several years ago, I never set foot on the campus. Then I joined Osher.
One of the great things about working with the Osher Institute is the amazing and vast treasure of ideas, insights, jokes and more that I gather each day from each of you who are our valued Osher members.
A recent Osher outing, organized as a result of the mini course on creativity, was a trip to the Evergreen Cemetery located in the eastern part of Henrico County. The cemetery was once planned as the counterpart to Hollywood Cemetery.
On Saturday, May 21, several Osher members enjoyed the Third Virginia Sesquicentennial Commemoration of the American Civil War Conference at Virginia Tech.
The Osher Writers Group, composed of members John Bruns, Rosemary Rawlins, Jan Tarasovic, David Thomas, and Don Warner, admire bookmarks promoting Rosemary's just-published memoir, Learning by Accident (available online at Amazon and Barnes and Noble).

El Paso native Abi Olvera decided to transfer to Richmond to be closer to Washington and to study international affairs. A year later, she is one of the U.S. Department of State’s top prospects for a future career in the Foreign Service.
Since graduating from Richmond in 2002, Tom Lawrence has helped many students find jobs and internships with the company he founded as a student. That company recently received The Webby award for its work on a virtual tour of the U.S. Capitol.
