Summer research fellowship applications due Feb. 16
Every year, the School of Arts & Sciences supports undergraduate research by offering summer research fellowships to qualifying student applicants. These fellowships provide summer stipends to students interested in conducting full-time research under the guidance of an Arts & Sciences faculty member. With mentor approval, students may choose to participate in either an 8-week, 9-week or 10-week experience.
Applications must be received by Monday, February 16, 2009. Before applying, students should read the guidelines carefully and be sure to include all required information. Proposals should be submitted to Kathy Hoke, associate dean for research support, whose office is located in the Boatwright Library Administrative Wing, room 17.
If additional research funds are needed to conduct a particular research project, a separate research proposal cover sheet and a detailed budget must be submitted with the summer fellowship application.
In 2008, the School of Arts & Sciences supported 170 students who spent their summers researching on campus.
