Spider Battalion earns bronze streamer at Ranger Challenge
The Department of Military Science and Leadership's 2007 Ranger Challenge team, lead by senior Cadet Mike Thompson, performed well in all events this year, resulting in a bronze streamer overall and finishing in second place on the physically demanding obstacle course.
The Spider Battalion's Ranger Challenge Team trains hard each year for the competition at Ft. Pickett, Virginia. They face 17 other schools in a rigorous two-day competition that tests cadets' stamina and determination. To prepare, the team members include an extra day of training each week to focus on physical fitness and the team ruck march.
The competition includes the following team and individual events: Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT), Hand Grenade Assault Course, Basic Rifle Markmanship (BRM), 10K Ruck March, Day/Night Land Navigation, Combat Obstacle Course and a Commander's Event. The department is proud of the Ranger Challenge Team, and there is no doubt they will perform exceptionally well in next year's competition.
