Ambassador to speak on Russia/U.S. relations Mar. 27

As a new administration in Washington begins to sort out its foreign policy priorities, how should it look at the former Soviet Union? And how do these not-so-new independent states look at Washington under President Obama?

On March 27, the Office of International Education presents a lecture given by John Ordway, a former Foreign Service Officer who served as Ambassador to Kazakhstan (2004-2008) and to Armenia (2001-2004). The lecture will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Jepson Hall, room 103.

Ambassador Ordway was Director of African Affairs at the National Security Council during the first Bush Administration, as well as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow from 1999-2001. John Ordway served twice at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow (1985-87 and 1996-2001). In Washington, he served twice in the Office of Soviet Union Affairs. He also has significant conflict resolution and peacekeeping experience with African nations.
