Everyone that knows Maria Mercedes Guevara Llatas on campus refers to her as “Marimer”. Marimer is nineteen years old and is originally from Lima, Peru. She loves to dance and learn about languages.
Marimer is currently taking advanced French and intermediate Italian classes. She received a scholarship to study at Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong (LPC UWC), an International Baccalaureate School in China for the period 2005 – 2007. This experience in China has allowed her to have several opportunities for her future academic and life aspirations. One of them is, without a doubt, her current scholarship at University of Richmond.
Marimer is plans to graduate with a major in International Business/French and also in Italian Studies. On campus, she works as a Resident Assistant for North Court and as a Computer Assistant at the Academic Skills Center.
Additionally, Marimer is president of S.A.L.S.A. (Spanish and Latin American Student Association) and UR UWC (United World College Students on campus who graduated from the thirteen different schools around the world). Marimer is also a member of other organizations such as RENEW (Richmond Environmental Network for Economic Willpower), Cercle Français and Volleyball Intramurals.
