Osher Institute director to make presentation at regional continuing education conference

Jane Dowrick, director of the School of Continuing Studies Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, has been invited to present, along with colleagues at other Osher Institutes, at the annual Southern Regional Conference of the University Professional & Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) on October 18, 2011.

Dowrick will participate in a panel discussion titled “Making Ends Meet: Osher Institute Stories of Sustainability” that will address ways in which the 117 Osher Institutes throughout the U.S. “have pooled their creative resources for maintaining and growing their programs.” The panel discussion echoes the conference theme, “Sink or Swim: Sustainability through Innovation.”

The School of Continuing Studies is an institutional member of UPCEA and is aligned with UPCEA-South. UPCEA provides research on professional and continuing education, networking opportunities for its members and award opportunities for programs of excellence, research and scholarship, and publishing and marketing efforts.

The Osher Institute is a program of the School of Continuing Studies for students age 50 and better. Osher members are integrated into School and University life with the privileges and responsibilities of other Richmond students.
