SPCS offers free professional development courses to current degree-seeking students

October 3, 2011

As the School of Professional & Continuing Studies continues to implement its strategic plan, it announces a pilot program to make available professional development courses to currently registered students free of charge.

The pilot program opens a selection of non-credit professional development courses from the Think Again catalog to any University of Richmond student currently registered in a credit course or degree program. Each registered student may take one of these selected courses free of charge each semester.

The goal of the pilot program is to provide enrichment opportunities and training in areas outside of a student’s normal course load. The program begins October 3, 2011, with 36 courses made available for enrollment throughout the Fall 2011 semester. The pilot program will limit students to a single free class.

Each week, registered students will receive a SpiderByte announcement identifying upcoming courses that will be available for free registration. Eligible students will be able to register online via ActiveNet by answering the question related to the Student Discount and by checking the Student Discount box to waive the course fee. The list of courses available in this pilot program is available online.

Questions about the pilot program, registration procedures and course availability should be direction to Stephanie Bowlin, Professional Development Program Manager, at sbowlin@richmond.edu.

Student interest and registration in the pilot program will be evaluated to determine whether the program will be extended and/or expanded.
