Jepson School to induct class of 2014

Eighty-five students from the class of 2014 will be inducted into the Jepson School of Leadership Studies Nov. 7 at Prelude, the formal ceremony where faculty and current students welcome new students to the school. The class is the largest in the school’s history.

“They are an enthusiastic class,” says Kerstin Soderlund, associate dean for student and external affairs. “They are already contemplating and talking with me about internships and expressing interest in other Jepson opportunities such as Jepson at Cambridge.”

The ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. in the Robins Pavilion at the Jepson Alumni Center. The featured faculty speaker will be Dr. Kristin Bezio, assistant professor of leadership studies. Bezio joined the Jepson faculty this fall and integrates the study of literature into the leadership studies curriculum. Students Bridget Wiede, ’12, Colin Billings, ’13, John Rivara, ’13, and Chelsea Shrader, ’12, will speak.

Students apply for admission in the first semester of their second year and are selected through essays and academic performance as well as recommendations and extracurricular activities. To apply, they must have completed or be enrolled in an introductory leadership studies course.
