Marshall Center Lecture Series: Noted historian of the American Revolution to speak Feb. 10

Pauline Maier, a leading scholar of the American Revolution, will speak on campus Feb. 10, 4:30 p.m., on “Ratification of the U.S. Constitution: The Book, the Story, and Why We Should Care.”  The talk is part of the 2011-12 Marshall Center Lecture Series.  

The author of numerous critically-acclaimed books on revolutionary America, she has been a consultant and commentator for PBS and the History Channel. She writes regularly for The New York Times Book Review.

Maier won the prestigious 2011 George Washington Book Prize for “Ratification: The People Debate the Constitution, 1787-1788.” The Wall Street Journal listed it among the top 10 books of 2010. Her book, “American Scripture: Making the Declaration of Independence,” was a New York Times “Editor’s Choice” pick.

Maier is a professor of American history at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
