Dr. Erik Nielson, professor of liberal arts, invited to publish first monograph by Manchester University Press

Dr. Erik Nielson, assistant professor of liberal arts and program coordinator for the communications core in the School of Professional & Continuing Studies, has been invited by Manchester University Press to submit his first monograph for publication.

Nielson’s project, tentatively titled Under Surveillance: Policing the Resistance in Hip Hop, will be an extension of his Ph.D. dissertation. The project will consider the relationship between law enforcement and hip hop culture and argue that hip hop has evolved in distinct ways because of this relationship.

Upon completion and acceptance, the book will be published as part of the Manchester University Press Music and Society series.
