Students earn Fundraising & Development certificate during Institute on Philanthropy's Winter Institute

April 19, 2012

Nine students from throughout Virginia earned the University of Richmond Professional Certificate in Fundraising and Development during the Institute on Philanthropy’s Winter Institute, January 8-14, 2012.

The seven-day institute comprised 48 hours of in-class study and field experience. The focus of coursework enabled participants to work while they learned. Throughout the classes, participants created the draft and framework for a development plan for their organizations; assessed their organization’s fundraising status; developed a strategy to improve their development program; and learned how to integrate the board into their fundraising plans.

The participants, pictured below, represent a variety of organizations from around the Commonwealth.

From top to bottom, left to right, participants were: Bruce Minett of Tabernacle Baptist Church; Nanette Shor of the American Heart Association (who received her job offer during the Institute); Chris Williams of the Virginia Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; Andrea Makriyianis of the University of Richmond; Jeff Bayard of Substance Abuse Free Environment (SAFE); Brittany Bache of Culpeper Hospital; Alissa Aronovici of the Richmond World Affairs Council; Alicia Young of the Southwest Virginia Educational Center Foundation; and Adair Roper of Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services.
