Dr. Bo Harris, emergency management program chair, named to board of Va. Retirement System

Dr. Wallace “Bo” Harris, Emergency Management program chair in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies, has been named to the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). Harris is retired from VRS, having served as Senior Deputy Director of the agency.

The VRS Board of Trustees establishes policy for and provides oversight to VRS operations. VRS administers a defined benefit plan, a group life insurance plan, a deferred compensation plan and a cash match plan for Commonwealth of Virginia full- and part-time classified state employees; employees of participating Virginia cities, counties, towns or political subdivisions; and instructional, clerical and administrative employees of Virginia school divisions.

VRS is the 24th largest public or private pension system in the United States, serving more than 600,000 members, retirees and beneficiaries.
