Former Duke University president Nan Keohane to speak at Jepson Leadership Forum April 15

Nannerl (Nan) Keohane, former president of Duke University and Wellesley College, will speak April 15, 7 p.m., in the University of Richmond’s Jepson Alumni Center.

The talk, “Two Kinds of Leadership – Out Front and Behind the Scenes,” is part of the 2012-13 Jepson Leadership Forum on “Groundbreakers: People, Ideas, and Innovations That Changed the World.” Keohane will discuss low-key leadership and look at the behind-the-scenes leadership of social and political movements around the globe.

Keohane is the first woman president of a major research university in the U.S. She was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 1995.

A political theorist, she is the Laurance S. Rockefeller Distinguished Visiting Professor of Public Affairs at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School and Center for Human Values. She is the author of “Thinking about Leadership” and “Higher Ground: Ethics and Leadership in the Modern University.”
