University of Richmond Massage Therapy Studies program wins AMTA Scholarship for Schools

July 3, 2013

In 2013 the American Massage Therapy Association introduced the AMTA Scholarship for Schools. The scholarship supports schools by providing scholarships to their massage therapy students.

AMTA awarded twenty $1,000 scholarships to selected schools. The University of Richmond was chosen as a scholarship winner based on the academic rigor of its clinical massage therapy studies program.

SPCS selected the scholarship recipient, Sharry Goode, based on her application and essay. She plans to graduate from the program in December 2013.

Goode, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, found clinical massage to be a healing touch in her own treatment and recovery. From her experience as a patient, Goode “wanted to pass on the positive energy [she] experienced through massage.” Her studies in the School’s massage therapy studies program have trained and prepared her to do just that.
