International Film: Blancanieves

Blancanieves (Spain, 2012) is the November 1 and 3 international film feature. Seville in the 1920s is the backdrop for this silent version of the Snow White fairy tale. Trained by her matador father, Carmen (a.k.a. Snow White or Blancanieves) flees her flamenco-dancing stepmother and finds herself in the company of a band of performing dwarfs. She charms audiences with displays of her skills as a matador. Upon learning what has become of her despised stepdaughter, the diabolical stepmother prepares a punishment intended to break the defiant girl.
