Modlin@Boatwright: A Conversation with CONTRA-TIEMPO

November 11, 2013
Join the Modlin Center for the Arts and Boatwright Memorial Library for a discussion on Salsa as a contemporary cultural dance form led by artistic director Ana Maria Alvarez of CONTRA-TIEMPO Latin dance company. She will discuss the history and technique of Salsa and connect it to larger ideas of community-building, social resistance, and the politics of dance. CONTRA-TIEMPO is an L.A.-based contemporary dance theatre company, which draws on traditional Cuban dance forms, such as Salsa, Son, and Rumba, and fuses these forms with hip hop and contemporary dance.  Stop by on Friday, November 15 at 12 noon, 1st Floor, Research and Collaborative Study Area in Boatwright Library.
