River Road entrance at UR Drive to be closed May 13 - August 15 for major construction projects

The River Road entrance to the University at UR Drive will be closed from May 13–August 15 while the south campus area undergoes major construction.

The south campus construction projects include demolition of several blocks of University Forest Apartments, realignment of UR Drive with parking and access to the new Gateway Village Apartments, enlarging and combining Special Programs Building parking areas, and sediment and drainage control and abatement.

Visitors to the School of Professional and Continuing Studies and other campus offices housed in the Special Programs Building (SPB) will likely find the College Road entrance easiest to navigate.

Parking Changes

Parking areas around the Special Programs Building will also be affected in different phases of the construction project.

Beginning August 13. The SPB parking lot will be undergoing new curbing, grading, and paving for up to two weeks beginning August 13. During paving operations, parking in lot W-40, across Crenshaw Way from SPB, is the best option. Watch signs throughout the paving procedure for alternative options, especially related to special needs access to the building. 

Please monitor signage and drive slowly and carefully through construction zones around our building and throughout campus.
