Dr. Tom Shields named UR Distinguished Educator at University Colloquy

The annual University Colloquy is the University’s annual event to mark the official beginning of the academic year. Faculty and staff are invited to this celebratory occasion marked by speakers, recognition of the Distinguished Educator Award recipients, introductions of new tenured and tenure-track faculty and installation of newly appointed endowed position holders.

Dr. Thomas Shields, Assistant Professor of Education and Director of the Center for Leadership in Education, was named as one of the University Distinguished Educator recipients for 2014. Other distinguished educators connected with the School of Professional and Continuing Studies from past years have included: Dr. Frank Eakin, Jr. (prior to joining the SPCS), [1985], Dr. Richard W. Leatherman [1999-2000], Dr. Walter G. Green, III [2004-2005], Prof. Porcher L’Engle Taylor [2005-2006], Dr. Daniel Roberts, Jr. [2007-2008], and Dr. Patricia B. Strait [2011-2012].
