Music faculty honored with Brahms busts

September 2, 2014

Department of Music faculty members Dr. Joanne Kong, pianist and director of accompaniment, and Jason McComb, cellist and Assistant Principal Cellist of the Richmond Symphony, received Brahms busts at the conclusion of the Richmond Symphony’s new summer concert series entitled Summer at CenterStage, as their July 31 concert sold the most tickets out of the 8 concerts presented.

The hour-long recitals featured the complete duo sonatas of Johannes Brahms as well as other works for piano and solo instrument.

Summer at CenterStage showcased some of the most outstanding artists in the Richmond music community.  The highly successful series was created by the Richmond Symphony’s Executive Director David Fisk, and presented in partnership with CenterStage, the University of Richmond and VCUArts.
