Montessori school head and educational leadership graduate student publishes op-ed on the need for humility, kindness

January 19, 2017

Grainne Murray, Richmond Montessori Head of School and student in the graduate Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program, recently published an op-ed in the Richmond Times-Dispatch focused on the need for humility and kindness. The opinion piece, What the World Needs Now is More Humility and Kindness, was published just before Thanksgiving and addressed the fact that the nation’s “lack of kindness and humility” following the 2016 presidential election resulted in uneasiness about the future — and that this uneasiness affects our children.

Murray reminds us of the importance of acting with kindness and humility:

“[Our kids] can learn there is strength in doing good in the world while remaining both humble and kind. They cannot learn this unless they are welcomed into a space where the adults are both.”
