Julian Hayter publishes op-ed on Confederate monuments (The Washington Post)

July 27, 2017

Julian Hayter, assistant professor of leadership studies, discusses the history and meaning of Confederate monuments in Southern cities.

Hayter argues, "In fact, these sites have served white supremacy just as powerfully by reinforcing racial discrimination and injustice in the present as they have in their distortion of the past." Read his full analysis in The Washington Post.

Hayter was named to Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney's Monuments Commission Work Group in June 2017.
