Jessica Pittman, GC'14, GC'15, named Va. Agriculture in the Classroom's Teacher of the Year

August 22, 2017

Jessica Pittman, GC’14, GC’15, was named Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom’s 2017 Teacher of the Year. Earning this award made her eligible to compete for the National Award in Teaching about Agriculture, an award she later won from the National Agriculture in the Classroom orgnization.

Reflecting on winning the Virginia award, Pittman imagined the possibility of winning the national award — and thanked her professor, Dr. Patricia Stohr-Hunt:

“In my little world, it’s a dream come true! I get to go to the national conference and compete for a national award. And to think... I may have never known AITC existed if it hadn't been for [Dr. Stohr-Hunt’s] class!”

A video about the excellent work Pittman does in the classroom is available on the Farm Bureau’s Plows and Politics blog. And the Spider Pride featured Pittman’s award in a recent article.
