UR Coding Boot Camp students make first app presentations to classmates, instructors after only 8 weeks in class

Members of the two UR Coding Bootcamp cohorts that started in January recently made their first app presentations to their classmates and instructors. Students have been in class for only eight weeks.

Cohort 1

On March 26, seven application development teams presented the following apps.

Date Night — An app that plans a date night out: user chooses their interest and the app picks a place.

RichPix — An app that finds unique experiences and scenic views (like a spot to watch the sunset, most popular restaurant, best fishing spot on the James River).

Kwizeen — A recipe database app that allows users to select recipes, ingredient and shopping lists, and market locations.

Draft Hopper — An app that helps beer lovers find great craft bars, breweries and tasting rooms in and around Richmond.

YouPhonic — A music app that allows the user to find music videos and lyrics of the song they’re listening to.

Travel Triage: Personal Health Concierge — A travel companion app that breaks down language barriers to get assistance on important matters.

beerhop — A social media app created for beer enthusiasts and savants.

Cohort 2

On March 27, six additional application development teams presented their apps.

BeeBetter — An app that helps the user find volunteering and professional development opportunities in the community.

JamStart — Alarm clock app that wakes the user to music and weather conditions as an alarm.

Trailer Park — An app that shows users movie and TV show trailers, as well as locations for viewing (theater locations, Netflix, Amazon, iTunes, etc).

GatheRVA — An app that provides users with a database of activities to do around Richmond.

ParkSpot — A public park check-in app. 

HowzIt — An app to find local bars with ratings near users.

In April, the first cohort of UR Coding Boot Camp, which started in October 2017, will complete their course of study and earn their professional certificates. Last January, two new cohorts started UR Coding Boot Camp, and in April, a fourth cohort of UR Coding Boot Camp will begin its studies.
