James River Transportation trying to stay ahead of the curve; exploring new possibilities including driverless vehicles (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Though 35-year-old driver Davon Bell begins his day like many other employees across the country — by clocking in and checking his schedule — his experiences after that can be anything but ordinary.

As an employee of James River Transportation, the Richmond-based charter bus and transportation company, Bell says he’s been able to see places he normally wouldn’t — an opportunity he considers “priceless.” But all the while, he says, the experience of the passengers he drives is the most important aspect of the job for him.

“They want the best experience,” said Bell, who started working for the company in 2011. “If it were me sitting in that seat, I would want the same thing. I’ve heard from many customers that the driver makes the trip.”
