Partners in the Arts presents an evening with New York Times bestselling author of Bird Box Josh Malerman at the Byrd Theatre on Thursday, June 27, 2019.

The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with UnHappy Hour: It’s a Miserable Time, hosted by the Poe Museum with Triple Crossing Brewing. A screening of Bird Box will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a Q&A and book signing with Josh Malerman, starting at 9:30 p.m. Copies of Bird Box and other Malerman titles will be available for sale before the screening, courtesy of Chop Suey Books.

Malerman will introduce the film with props provided by u-fab interiors and Studio Two Three.

Event tickets can be purchased online for $20 and include a drink ticket for the UnHappy Hour, the screening of Bird Box and the post-screening Q&A and book signing with Josh Malerman. Walk-up tickets will be available on the evening of the event until they are sold out. Doors open at 6:30 pm.

The event will serve as the conclusion to Multi-Sensory Storytelling: Creativity Workshop with Bird Box Author Josh Malerman, a four-day workshop for writers and teachers looking to improve their skills through a multi-disciplinary and digital approach to effective storytelling, facilitated by Josh Malerman and local Richmond artists. However, anyone is welcome to attend An Evening with Josh Malerman.

The workshop is part of the Joan Oates Institute for Partners in the Arts, a program at the University of Richmond School of Professional & Continuing Studies that helps educators integrate creative practices and arts education into their curriculum, regardless of subject matter.
