Senior Associate Dean Brown to receive award for advocacy from Senior Connections

Dr. Patricia Johnson Brown, Senior Associate Dean, has been selected to receive the MaryEllen Cox Memorial Award for Advocacy at the Eighth Annual Empty Plate Benefit Luncheon.

The luncheon and award program are sponsored by Senior Connections, The Capital Area Agency on Aging. Brown was nominated for her advocacy efforts on behalf of the University of Richmond School of Continuing Studies Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

The MaryEllen Cox Memorial Award for Advocacy is presented to an individual who “exemplifies the leadership characteristics of the late MaryEllen Cox. Mrs. Cox maintained community involvement and made significant contributions to seniors.”

Brown will receive the award on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at the Science Museum of Virginia. The Empty Plate Benefit Luncheon raises funds to “help Senior Connections fill empty plates with essential services such as food, in-home care, emergency services and transportation.”
