Physics faculty members assume leadership roles

Dr. Jerry Gilfoyle was voted chair of the Nuclear Physics Working Group of the CLAS Collaboration. The Collaboration is responsible for operating a large radiation detector at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. Dr. Gilfoyle will be responsible for organizing meetings and managing Collaboration physics reviews.

Dr. Con Beausang has been appointed chairman of the Education Sub-committee of the Division of Nuclear Physics, American Physical Society. The Division of Nuclear Physics (DNP) is comprised of scientists and educators who study fundamental problems related to the nature of matter.
