Physics department hosts fourth Physics Olympics
The Department of Physics hosted the fourth annual Physics Olympics on February 23, 2008 at the University of Richmond’s Gottwald Science Center.
Thirteen teams participated, representing area high schools. Twenty Richmond undergraduates volunteered at the event, organizing participants and running the competitions.
A total of five competitions took place throughout the day. Dr. Brad Keister, program officer for nuclear physics at the National Science Foundation, traveled to Richmond from Washington, D.C. to give remarks and hand out prizes. Dr. Peggy McMahon with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory also attended.
St. Christopher’s School of Richmond won the competition.
