In the wake of the nation’s costliest presidential race, Richmond Journal of Law and the Public Interest will host a debate at the University of Richmond School of Law on November 13 at 6:00 p.m., entitled “Hard Questions about Soft Money: Campaign Finance Reform and Fiscal Freedom in Today’s Economy.”  The event is free and open to the public and will be held in the School of Law's Moot Court Room. A reception will follow the debate.

Laura MacCleery of the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law will speak for campaign finance reform. Reid Cox, legal director at the Center for Competitive Politics in Washington, D.C., will speak for fiscal freedom. John Pagan, university professor at Richmond and former dean of the law school, will moderate.

The debate is part of the Emanuel Emroch Lecture Series, established by the late Emanuel Emroch, his wife Bertha and their friends and associates. The series’ endowment is currently supported by Emroch’s son, Walter Emroch, and his wife. Emanuel Emroch received a B.A. in 1928 and a J.D. in 1931, both from the University of Richmond.
