Applications to participate in Student Research Symposium due Feb. 20

The School of Arts & Sciences is now accepting student applications for the School’s 24th Annual Student Research Symposium, which will take place Friday, April 17 at the Modlin Center for the Arts.

The event features oral presentations, poster sessions, performances and art exhibits. Students who wish to present their research at the Symposium must complete an online application, which is due February 20. Teams of students who plan to present together must complete one application per presentation.

Most students choose to present work they have completed during the previous summer or academic year. The work must represent research the student did independently, under the advisement of a faculty mentor.

Once students have applied to participate in the Symposium, there are a number of different competitions to which they may submit their work. Papers may be submitted to a paper competition (due Mar. 20); artwork may be submitted to an arts competition (due Mar. 30); and all participants may choose to participate in a YouTube research video contest sponsored by the School of Arts & Sciences (due Apr. 10).

Questions about the Student Research Symposium should be directed to mathematics professor Bill Ross who is organizing this year’s event.
