Sophomore Carlos Cotman of Richmond receives $10,000 VFIC/Altria leadership scholarship

The Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC) has awarded Carlos Cotman, a University of Richmond sophomore, a $10,000 VFIC/Altria Leadership Scholarship.

Cotman, from Richmond and a graduate of Open High School, is majoring in biology. He received the scholarship for demonstrating leadership potential and outstanding career, work and life skills. The president of each VFIC member college or university nominates a sophomore for the two-year scholarship.

Founded in 1952, the VFIC is a nonprofit partnership that supports programs and students at 15 private colleges in the Commonwealth. The VFIC/Altria scholarship is made possible by generous donations from Altria.
