Lectures to mark LGBTQ History Month

The University of Richmond will host UR Comes Out events throughout October to celebrate LGBTQ History Month.

Writer and activist Staceyann Chin will speak about “Woman Talk: From Girlhood to Motherhood with Staceyann Chin,” Oct. 2, 6 p.m. in the Greek Theater. Chin is best known for co-writing and performing Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam on Broadway.

In a lecture Oct. 23, 7 p.m., S. Bear Bergman will discuss, “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Gender.” It will be held in Jepson Hall, Room 118. Bergman will talk about hormones, surgeries, gatekeepers and other gender change topics.

UR Comes Out is sponsored by the Office of Common Ground, Office of Multicultural Affairs, Richmond College, Westhampton College and several student organizations.
