Healing, forgiveness are themes of 2012 Weinstein-Rosenthal Forum Nov. 15

November 5, 2012

Two Richmond area theologians will lead a discussion of what it means to forgive at the 26th annual Weinstein-Rosenthal Forum Nov. 15 at the University of Richmond.

Dr. John W. Kinney, dean of the School of Theology at Virginia Union University, and the Rev. Benjamin P. Campbell, pastoral director of Richmond Hill ecumenical Christian community and retreat center in Church Hill, will speak at Robins School of Business, Ukrop Auditorium, at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

The two also will consider how metropolitan Richmond can become a model of racial, religious and economic healing and how ideas of forgiveness are shaped.

Kinney is a graduate of Marshall University and Virginia Union. He received a Ph.D. from Columbia University/Union Theological Seminary and has served as pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Beaverdam, Va., for more than 35 years. He has consulted for numerous church-related bodies and the chaplain corps of the three major branches of the U.S. armed forces. He is a former president of the Association of Theological Schools.

Campbell was ordained to the priesthood of the Episcopal Church in 1966 and came to Richmond in 1970. He has served three Episcopal churches and worked as communications director and program director for the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. He directed two nonprofit organizations and became director of Richmond Hill in 1987. He co-founded the Micah Association, which links 104 faith communities to 25 inner-city elementary schools in Richmond, and the Armstrong Leadership Program for students at Armstrong High School.
