U.S. News again ranks Richmond in the top tier of national liberal arts colleges at No. 25; also on "best buys" and "up-and-coming" lists

U.S. News & World Report’s "Best Colleges 2014" guide has ranked University of Richmond No. 25 on its list of Best National Liberal Arts Colleges. Richmond tied with The College of the Holy Cross, Oberlin, Scripps and the Air Force Academy.

Within the category, the annual guidebook ranks Richmond tied for No. 2 on its list of "Up and Comers" — schools that recently have made the "most promising and innovative changes in the areas of academics, faculty, student life, campus, or facilities." Also, Richmond is No.14 among "Great Schools at Great Prices" — those offering the best balance of academic quality and need-based financial aid.

Richmond is among only 1 percent of colleges and universities offering need-blind admission — it does not consider an applicant's ability to pay when making admission decisions — and pledging to meet 100 percent of the demonstrated financial need of admitted students.

Richmond consistently ranks as a top-tier liberal arts college and a best value by U.S. News and Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine, affirming other annual rankings recently awarded for both high academic quality and affordability through its generous financial aid program. "The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2014," The Princeton Review's "The Best 378 Colleges: 2014 Edition," and Forbes.com’s "America’s Best Colleges" all include Richmond this year.

"It is gratifying that the exceptional and innovative undergraduate education that Richmond provides is recognized across the board," said Nanci Tessier, the university's vice president for enrollment management.
