U.S. News & World Report ranks UR's Robins School of Business in top 20 for international business

U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges 2014” guide has ranked University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business No. 20 on its list of best undergraduate international business programs.

Richmond tied with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Two years ago, the Robins School identified internationalizing its program as a major initiative of its strategic plan.

"The quality of our international business program is the result of the tireless efforts of the Robins School faculty, staff and administration, combined with support provided by the Office of International Education and the members of many departments in the School of Arts and Sciences," said Tom Cossé, associate dean for international business programs and professor of marketing and international business studies.

"Through those combined efforts, our students have the opportunity to study at top tier schools around the world, while we also attract outstanding international visiting and exchange students," Cossé said.  "Our faculty has become more and more involved in professional international activities including teaching at schools abroad, conducting internationally focused research, presenting research papers at conferences worldwide and publishing in international journals."

"We’re fortunate to have the institutional resources and the support of many friends and organizations to be able to move in the international arena," he said.

Richmond is among only 1 percent of colleges and universities offering both need-blind admission — it does not consider an applicant’s ability to pay when making admission decisions — and pledging to meet 100 percent of the demonstrated financial need of admitted students.

Richmond consistently ranks as a top-tier liberal arts college and a best value by U.S. News and Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine, affirming other annual rankings recently awarded for both high academic quality and affordability through its generous financial aid program. "The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2014," The Princeton Review's "The Best 378 Colleges: 2014 Edition," and Forbes.com's "America’s Best Colleges" all include Richmond this year.

"This accolade recognizes the many ways Richmond prepares our students to work in a global economy, which is critical for today's college student," said Nanci Tessier, vice president for enrollment management.
