American Accounting Association presents innovation award to Joe Hoyle for his blog

Joe Hoyle, associate professor of accounting at the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business, has received the 2013 Innovation in Accounting Award from the American Accounting Association (AAA). Sponsored by the Ernst and Young Foundation, the award cites Hoyle’s blog as an example of innovation and improvement in accounting education.

The blog, titled “Joe Hoyle: Teaching – Getting the Most from Your Students,” is comprised of approximately 170 essays and has had more than 92,000 page views. He recently completed his 42nd year at the university and in 2007, was named Virginia Professor of the Year by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. 

Hoyle is coauthor of “Advanced Accounting,” soon to be released in its 12th edition, and “Financial Accounting,” in its second edition.

Hoyle received a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and an M.B.A. from Appalachian State University. He teaches “Introduction to Financial Accounting” and “Intermediate Financial Accounting II.”
