Gubernatorial candidates to take part in conversations with UR President Ayers at Sharp Viewpoint program

September 23, 2013

Virginia gubernatorial candidates Ken Cuccinelli and Terry McAuliffe will hold separate conversations with University of Richmond President Ed Ayers at The Modlin Center’s Alice Jepson Theatre Oct. 10.

Ayers will pose questions for a half-hour each to Cuccinelli at 7 p.m., then to McAuliffe at 7:30 p.m. The event is funded by the Richard L. Sharp Viewpoint Lecture Series and devised by the Richmond Scholars Program, representing the university’s merit scholarship recipients.

Questions will be based on this year’s Scholars’ theme:  “Creating the next generation of engaged citizens.”  Each candidate will be asked the same questions, and they will have time prior to the event to prepare their responses.

A limited number of free tickets is available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis and can be reserved at http://scholars.richmond.edu/sharp/reservation.html. Additionally, unused tickets and open seats will be released to persons in line at the Modlin Center box office at 6:55 p.m. on Oct. 10.

The event will be webcast live by the university from a link on its home page, www.richmond.edu.
