Accounting Professor Joe Ben Hoyle publishes book about attaining success

January 8, 2014

Joe Ben Hoyle, associate professor of accounting at the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business, has published “Don’t Just Dream About Success: Stack the Odds in Your Favor.”

Hoyle begins with the story of a Richmond student who left school with the ambitious goal of climbing the tallest mountain on each of the seven continents. He proceeds with essays and stories that illuminate divergent, sometimes unexpected pathways to success.  Along the way, he draws on resources as varied as Thomas Edison, Bob Dylan, Dr. Seuss, Derek Jeter and Bill Gates. Each chapter ends with a “closing activity” designed to focus the reader’s attention on achievable steps toward success.

Hoyle, a college professor for 43 years, has won numerous awards for his work in teaching and accounting.  He has been named “distinguished educator” at the university five times.
