Unigo college guide names Richmond the No. 10 most-wired campus in the nation

January 15, 2014

Unigo, a college guide website, recently ranked University of Richmond the No. 10 most-wired campus in the nation.

Richmond is the only Virginia college or university named to the specialized list of the top 10 most-wired campuses. Unigo based its ranking on surveys of more than 30,000 students nationwide.

Unigo cites Richmond’s “1,100 computer systems on campus” and reports “personal computers, smart phones and other devices are everywhere you look.” The Information Services department at Richmond “will work on personal computers, and more than 80 percent of classes offer online components, allowing students to work collaboratively by sharing documents, notes and other class materials.”

In addition, every room on campus has Internet access, and nearly 100 percent of students have personal computers. Unigo also cited Richmond’s Technology Learning Center, calling it a “state-of-the-art media center” for all students to use.

The website also noted that Richmond has been active in incorporating computer science with other disciplines and created an intensive integrated quantitative science course (IQS) that spans two semesters and is available only to first and second-year students.
