Fulfill your New Year's resolution at the University of Richmond; running and walking trails offer great exercise opportunities

January 5, 2015

Losing weight and getting into better shape are two of the most popular New Year’s resolutions.

The University of Richmond has several trails around the lake and hills of campus to help you achieve your health goals in 2015. Each provides unique scenery and terrain appropriate for walking, jogging or running.

“These trails are really a hidden gem, especially for people who live near campus,” said Heather Sadowski, assistant director of Wellness. “It’s a great opportunity to exercise at your comfort level and take in some beautiful scenery at the same time.”

Cold weather can discourage even motivated exercisers, but don’t let chilly temperatures drive you away.

“You can still enjoy exercising outdoors on many winter days. Just make sure to wear layers and stay hydrated,” Sadowski said.

“We hope that people discover these trails and take advantage of them as part of their weekly exercise and lifestyle goals all year long,” Sadowski added.

The most popular trails include the blue, gold and red loops. For more information, visit the university’s website.
