Dr. Ayers named honorary Spider by Alumni Association
The University of Richmond Alumni Association (URAA) has named Dr. Edward L. Ayers an honorary Spider. It’s the first time the association has awarded this honor since its inception in 2003.
Though Dr. Ayers is already an integral member of the UR community, URAA wanted to honor him with a special recognition as his tenure as 9th president winds down.
Dr. Ayers received his new “declaration” at URAA’s winter meeting on Feb. 21 as an expression of the Association’s admiration and respect for his unwavering commitment to students, faculty, alumni and the greater Richmond community.
“We were thrilled to honor Dr. Ayers in this way,” said William T. Mallon, Ed.D., R’91, G’96., current president of URAA. “He has demonstrated exceptional leadership and vision as UR’s president and championed the cause of the University and its alumni.”
