University of Richmond's Bonner Center for Civic Engagement celebrates 10th anniversary with event at the Library of Virginia

The Bonner Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) will hold a panel discussion at the Library of Virginia on “Does Civic Engagement Really Matter in RVA?” April 10, 5:30 p.m.

This event, which is free and open to the public, is part of an ongoing celebration of the CCE’s 10th anniversary highlighting the Center’s commitment to collaboration, intentionality and inquiry. CCE’s mission is to transform student learning, deepen faculty engagement and partner with community organizations for social change.

Executive Director Amy Howard said, “Now, more than ever, understanding social issues in context, valuing the assets and deep knowledge within communities, and finding meaningful ways to partner is essential for strengthening our democracy.”

The panel will include University of Richmond President Edward L. Ayers, Vanessa Diamond of HandsOn Greater Richmond, Damon Jiggetts of the Peter Paul Development Center, Delegate Jennifer McClellan and Thad Williamson from the Mayor’s Office of Community Wealth Building
