Major construction, road closures on campus this summer

May 1, 2015

Major construction, including several campus road closures, will impact the University of Richmond campus starting May 12.

Parts of UR Drive and Westhampton Way on the River Road side of campus will be closed to all vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic beginning May 12 through Aug. 17. These closures are necessary to ensure the safety of the campus community and visitors while both roads are improved and reconfigured.

UR Drive will be closed between Crenshaw Way and Westhampton Way. Westhampton Way will also be closed between the Westhampton Center (near Keller Road) and Cannon Memorial Chapel.

During construction, vehicle traffic will not be able to cross directly from the south to north side of campus. Visitors to the south side (River Road) of campus should use the Westhampton Gate or UR Drive entrances. Traffic heading to the north side (Robins Stadium) of campus should use the Gateway Entrance.

This project, which began last summer, continues the realignment of UR Drive to make it the primary route through campus and to create a high quality pedestrian walkway to access to the Forum in the center of campus.

To accommodate changes to regular truck deliveries, which will be impacted by this construction, there will be no on-street parking on Keller Road or on Westhampton Way between Wilton Way (Gray Court) and Keller Road (Student Activities Complex).

A map detailing these closures and campus construction is available on the University of Richmond website. Construction will not begin until May 12. Current campus maps and directions are available at www.richmond.edu/visit.
