Six alumni honored with awards during UR Reunion Weekend

Six distinguished University of Richmond alumni were recognized for their outstanding achievements and contributions in their respective field of business, service to the community or service to their alma mater on May 30 during Reunion Weekend.

The University of Richmond Alumni Association presented the following awards:

  • Wesley Schultz, ’05, received a Distinguished Recent Graduate Award. Schultz is the guitarist and lead vocalist for the American folk rock band The Lumineers.
  • 2010 graduates Mark Spera and Dean Ramadan also received Distinguished Recent Graduate Awards. Spera and Ramadan are the cofounders of BeGood Clothing Company, a socially responsible clothing and accessories online retailer based in San Francisco, Calif.
  • Alexandra Hamlet Prevost, W’72, was honored with the Distinguished Service Award. Prevost, a cultural anthropologist, published author and international consultant, is president of Hamlet International Group.

The Jepson School of Leadership Studies presented the following awards:

  • Meredith Schalick, ’95, received the Jepson School of Leadership Studies Alumni Award. Schalick is a clinical associate professor at Rutgers School of Law. She has devoted her legal career to helping at-risk children and is an internationally known expert in this field.
  • Allison Kirk Babiuch, ’05, a pediatric ophthalmologist at Cleveland Clinic, received the Jepson School of Leadership Studies Tenth Year Reunion Recognition Award. Babiuch routinely volunteers her time to help those in need receive proper medical care. She also mentors younger colleagues.
