September 16, 2015

The University of Richmond will hold a bike-related Spirit Week Sept. 20-27, celebrating the UCI Road World Championship. Richmond is hosting the start of the Men’s Elite Road Race – the marquee race – on campus Sept. 27, the final day of the competition.

The community is invited to the following Spirit Week events:

Presidential 5K Bike Ride, Sept. 20
9 a.m. on Richmond Way outside Tyler Haynes Commons
President Ronald Crutcher will lead cyclists on a leisurely 5K ride around campus.

International Festival, Sept. 27
8–10 a.m. at the Carole Weinstein International Center
In celebration of the international aspect of the UCI Road World Championships, the Office of International Education will host an international festival of music and more. This event will take place on the morning of the Men’s Elite Race, and this location provides a terrific view of the UCI course.

Other events include a bike fair, special spin classes and a cycling-themed lunch in Heilman Dining Center. UR employees are also invited and encouraged to bike to work on Sept. 25.
