Historian of early America to give lecture at University of Richmond

The University of Richmond Department of History is hosting historian Kathleen DuVal for a lecture titled, "Independence Lost: Lives on the Edge of the American Revolution.” The event is Feb. 18, 7:30 p.m., Weinstein Hall, Brown Alley Room. This lecture is free and open to the public.

DuVal, a history professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is a specialist in early America with particular emphasis on cross-cultural relations in North American borderlands. Her books include “The Native Ground: Indians and Colonists in the Heart of the Continent” and “Independence Lost: Lives on the Edge of the American Revolution.”

The Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia is sponsoring this lecture. The national organization was founded in 1783 by a group of Revolutionary officers with George Washington as its first president.
