D. Scott Showalter, professor of practice at NC State, to be Robins School of Business Watts Lectureship guest March. 3

D. Scott Showalter, a University of Richmond alum and professor of practice in the accounting department at North Carolina State University, is the keynote speaker for the annual Stanley S. Watts Lectureship.

The event will be held March 3 at 6 p.m. in the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business, Queally Hall, Ukrop Auditorium. It is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

The Watts lecture brings a variety of leaders from business and government to campus to talk about the financial services industry. Showalter will be discussing the accounting profession and the keys to a successful career.

Before joining NC State, Showalter was an audit partner with KPMG, an audit, tax and advisory firm, serving in numerous roles throughout his 30+-year career. He is an active participant in the American Accounting Association. Showalter’s success has been recognized throughout the business community, most recently as the chairman of the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board. He received his Bachelor of Science of Business Administration from University of Richmond.

The Watts Lectureship was established in 1974 to honor Stanley S. Watts, a 1943 graduate of the University of Richmond. Watts was elected in 1968 to serve as president of the insurance industry’s most distinguished international organization, the Million Dollar Round Table.
