October 4, 2016

The Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT), Chesapeake Chapter, recognized University of Richmond Transportation Services for its work encouraging sustainable transportation with the Outstanding Incentive Programs award. RideFinders, a division of the GRTC transit system, nominated UR for this award.

“ACT recognized UR’s efforts in offering a robust transportation system that was designed to increase connectivity between the campus and the City of Richmond while furthering the university's commitment to sustainability,” said John O’Keeffe, account executive for RideFinders.

Since 2011, there has been a 77 percent increase in general ridership, and in the past year, a 32 percent increase in bike registrations. UR was also applauded for providing safe and numerous transportation options for trips beyond the immediate Richmond area. For example, Transportation Services provided a free shuttle to the Virginia State Fair to students.
